About Troop 623

Troop 623 is sponsered by the Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley, and is centrally located in Simi Valley, CA. Our Troop consists mostly of younger boys who are always eager to learn and participate in our exciting program. The program usually consists of weekly meetings and an outing once a month. We participate in the annual district Camporee, attend a week long summer camp, and are actively involved in Order-of-the-Arrow activities. We also perform service for our community by participating in events such as "Scouting for Food", "Feed the Seniors", and performing trailwork whenever we camp or hike.

Boy Scout Application:
You can obtain a scout application from our Scoutmaster. Complete this application and return it with the applicable fees and you will become a member of the troop!

Equipment and Uniform
  • Scout Short-Sleeve Shirt.
  • Boy Scout Handbook – Please complete the exercises in the pamphlet “How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse
  • Red Shoulder Loops.
  • Ventura Council Shoulder Patch.
  • Unit Numerals (623).
  • Neckerchief Slide.
  • Scout Pants (Long and Optional Short) – long pants will need to be tailored for length.
  • Scout Web Belt and Buckle.
  • Scout Socks.
  • Insignia placement is displayed inside front and back covers of the Boy Scout Handbook.

General Information:

  • The Ventura County Council is made up of six areas called Districts; Simi Valley is in the Ronald Reagan District which also covers the Moorpark area.
  • Each District has a District Committee which is comprised of volunteers who support the units within the District.
  • Monthly Roundtable meetings are presented to train and support the volunteer leadership of the
  • District's Boy Scout Troops. These monthly sessions are a great time to learn and meet with leaders from other units to ask questions, share planning tips and advancement ideas.
Adult Volunteers:

Troop 623 is always looking for interested adults to volunteer and support the various Troop activities. If interested, please let any of the Troop leadership know and complete an Adult Leader Application.
